Cooking Class at Bali Asli Restaurant

With stunning views of Mount Agung, you can also experience a specific theme cooking class for an absolutely divine Balinese culinary and cultural adventure. With only a maximum of 10 in a class, you will learn how to make traditional Indonesian dishes such as the above. Prior to the actual food preparation and cooking, you will also enjoy a unique cultural tour that may entail a visit to a local market nearby and activities like planting rice in the paddies or fishing with a traditional jukung boat. You will be enlightened with the knowledge of what the local villagers do in their daily life and develop a familiarity with the sources of the ingredients used in cooking.

While you prepare the sumptuous spread with your fellow students, Executive Chef Penelope Williams will mingle with you and explain more about the cooking process. Having vast experience from being an apprentice at The Savoy in London and working in top restaurants in Sydney, she is a friendly person who decided to set up her own restaurant after being enamored with Bali from her work at Alila Manggis Hotel. Finally, of course, the class concludes with you getting to savour the cooked food served ‘megibung’ style on communal platters.
